Language & Communication Skills in Atlanta

Communication is at the heart of learning, connection, and confidence. Dogwood Autism Services supports children with autism in developing functional communication — whether that’s spoken language, gestures, AAC, or early social communication skills.

Goals We Target

Your child’s plan may include:

requesting wants and needs
labeling objects and actions
following directions
answering simple questions
using gestures or pictures to communicate
increasing back-and-forth interaction

Natural-Environment Communication Teaching

We teach communication through play and real routines, not drills. Using Natural Environment Teaching (NET), children learn to communicate in ways that make sense in daily life.

communication and requesting
self-help and independence
toilet training
play and sibling interaction
reducing challenging behaviors in daily routines

Reducing Frustration Through Communication

Many challenging behaviors come from not being able to express needs. Building communication skills can reduce tantrums, aggression, and withdrawal by giving children a reliable voice.

Let’s help your child build meaningful communication. Schedule a clinical call with Dogwood Autism Services.
